Payment technology, built from Nairobi

Payixay is the payment technology brand of Emcenton Technology Limited. We build the infrastructure connections that let merchants accept cards and M-Pesa and settle in USD or USDT.

Why Payixay exists

Payments in emerging markets are harder than they should be

A merchant in Nairobi, Lagos or Mumbai selling to international customers has to stitch together a card acquirer, a mobile money integration and a way to receive foreign settlement — usually from three different providers with three different contracts.

Payixay was built to collapse that into one relationship: card acceptance on certified gateway infrastructure, M-Pesa collections in the same dashboard, and settlement in USD or USDT depending on what works for the merchant’s treasury. We are a technology company — acquiring, banking and settlement services are delivered through vetted partners, and we are transparent about which parts of the chain we operate and which parts our partners do.

Mission and vision

What we’re building toward

Mission

Give merchants in emerging and cross-border markets the same quality of payment infrastructure that merchants in developed markets take for granted — one integration, clear pricing, and settlement that arrives when expected.

Vision

A payment platform where the payment method a customer prefers — card, mobile money or stablecoin — is a checkout detail, not an infrastructure project for the merchant.

How we work

Core values

Accuracy over hype

We describe what the platform does and who provides each part of the service. If a capability depends on a partner or a compliance review, we say so.

Compliance first

Every merchant goes through KYC/KYB before activation. We would rather decline a merchant than compromise the integrity of the platform.

Merchant economics

Failed payments and slow settlement cost merchants real money. We measure ourselves on authorization rates and settlement reliability.

Build for the long term

Payments infrastructure earns trust slowly and loses it instantly. We make conservative technical and partnership choices for that reason.

Technology

What we operate, and what our partners provide

  • Payixay operates the merchant platform: onboarding, dashboard, reporting, reconciliation, M-Pesa collection flows and settlement orchestration.
  • Akurateco provides the payment gateway layer — transaction routing, tokenization and 3-D Secure on PCI DSS Level 1 certified technology.
  • Banking and acquiring partners provide card acquiring, funds custody and fiat settlement rails, subject to their own regulatory permissions.

This partner model is deliberate: each layer of the payment chain is run by the party best placed to operate it, and merchants get one contract and one integration.

Security philosophy

How we think about security

Our starting assumption is that a payment platform is a target. Three principles follow. First, don’t hold what you don’t need: card data is tokenized on PCI DSS Level 1 certified infrastructure provided by Akurateco, and Emcenton systems never store raw card numbers. Second, verify before value moves: KYC/KYB before activation, risk scoring before authorization, compliance review before stablecoin settlement. Third, assume failure and monitor for it: real-time transaction monitoring, anomaly alerts and independent reconciliation run continuously, because controls that aren’t watched are controls that decay.
